MoPIT to help Kathmandu get rid of dust pollution
Kathmandu, December 8
Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth said his ministry would provide all possible support, including necessary equipment, for making Kathmandu Metropolitan City dust-free.
Speaking at a clean-up campaign organised here today by KMC, Minister Mahaseth said unless we kept our roads clean, we could not make the city dust-free.
Minister Mahaseth, KMC mayors and deputy mayor, and civil society members, among others participated in the cleaning campaign.
“The ongoing construction of Kalanki-Nagdhunga has created a lot of problems for the people. We are trying to complete the work as soon as possible,” said Mahaseth.
Similarly, KMC Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya said building construction work inside the city had contributed to much of the dust on roads.
Mayor Shakya also said that the tendency to dump construction materials on the roads had added to dust pollution in the city. During the clean-up campaign, five jet machines, two broomers, two excavators and three trucks were used today.
