Moriarty meets PM
Kathmandu, September 1 :
The US ambassador to Nepal, James F Moriarty, today met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and talked to him about the law and order situation in the country that has “not improved” yet.
According to sources, Moriarty met Koirala to convey him the assessment of the delegation of US Congressmen led by Jim Kolby which visited Nepal in the recent past.
It is learnt that the US delegation went back concerned about the business and political
atmosphere in Nepal, which it felt has “not improved.”
The problem, according to the US Congressmen, was that the rebels were still armed and unwilling to lay down weapons. Their assessment was that the armed rebels cannot be taken in the interim government.
