MoYS awards youths, organisations

Ministry of Youth and Sports today awarded youths and youth organisations from different parts of the country with Youth Talent and Youth Entrepreneurship Encouragement Award.
Kokila Khadka from The Himalayan Times also received the award, which carries a purse of Rs 50,000 and a letter of appreciation. The awardees were selected from various sectors such as art, culture, music, dance, social work, science and technology, youth empowerment, health, journalism and sports, among others.
Speaking at the award handover ceremony, Minister for Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal expressed his commitment to work for the development of youths.
Madhab Dhungel, vice president, NYC, said the government had allocated Rs 400 million for the office and that they were planning to launch projects aimed at generating employment for youths.
“Many youths are going abroad for employment and we want to encourage them to stay in Nepal. We are planning to launch some model projects under Public Private Partnership model.
This will generate employment for youths,” he said, adding, “We are preparing to launch projects by investing Rs 15 million each in all the seven provinces.”
Other awardees included Tara Bahadur Syangtaan, Shristi KC, Kiran Adhikari, Angdaba Sherpa, Rupan Magar, Khadga Magar, Hiralal BK, Ganesh Bikram Singh Ale, Yagya Prasad Devkota, Netra Shah, Nirmala Subedi, Shreeram Pandit, Baisa Bahadur Tamang, Neelam Dhungana, Padam GC and Gyan Bahadur GC-Pyuthan.
Likewise, Sundar Shrestha, Bikalpa Dhungana, Gagan Bahadur Budha, Bhim Shrestha, Sher Bahadur Magar, MJ Jha, Raju Sharma Khatiwada, Sudeep Gautam, Ramhari Sedai, Laxmi Chaudhary, Balika Gandharba, Surya Prasad Lamichhane, Madhur Basnet, Bima Kumari Kumal, Ganesh Bahadur Gurung, Milan Kumar Singh, Marshal Roka, Indra Tamang, Sarala Karki, Manoj Bhattarai, Prakash Koirala and Sagar Darji Pariyar, among others, were also awarded.
Various organisations namely Deaurali Youth Club (Dhankuta), Youth Partnership for Development and Peace Nepal (Ramechhap), Janahit Yuba Samaj (Khotang), Youth Green Club (Kathmandu), student group from Janajyoti Higher Secondary School (Surkhet), Blind Youth Association Nepal were also awarded.
Media houses, including The Himalayan Times, were also feted with a letter of appreciation for raising issues related to youths.
