MPCD, MPR join hands to fight crime in valley

Kathmandu, May 12

The Metropolitan Police Crime Division and Metropolitan Police Range have agreed to work in a coordinated manner to maintain peace and security in the capital city.

At a joint press meet organised to share their security action plan, MPCD in-charge Shahakul Thapa and MPR Chief Uttam Raj Subedi said they would not compromise on security of lives and property, and would work together to fight crime.

“We have decided to organise the joint press meet to give a message to the public that the two units are committed to moving forward with shared goals and strategy to maintain law and order,” SSP Subedi said.

SSP Thapa stated that both the units would adopt security measures and strategies without any bias to achieve the goals of Nepal Police.

They said a special emphasis would be on elimination of organised crime, gangsterism, financial crime, cyber crime and heinous crimes.

In the past, lack of a sound coordination and intelligence sharing between the two police units had affected anti-crime operation in some cases in Kathmandu valley, according to police.
