MPs of Mid-West want Surkhet as provincial capital

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the Mid-West warned that the ongoing protest in the region would not be halted until top leaders of the major political parties expressed written commitment to make Surkhet as the capital of the state no. 6.

Speaking at an interaction organised at the Reporters' Club in the Capital on Saturday, Nepali Congress lawmaker Tapta Bahadur Bista said that the ongoing protest would be stopped only after the major political parties addressed their demand to make Surkhet as the capital of the state no.6.

He further said that the Mid-West should not be divided at cost.

Also speaking on the occasion, UCPN-Maoist lawmaker Sita Nepali said that the issue raised by the locals of Surkhet should be fulfilled.

She further said that the demonstrations would not be stopped by using bullets.
