Municipality stops super market construction in Madhyapur Thimi

KATHMANDU: Authorities on Tuesday sealed a building that Bhatbhateni Hyper Market Pvt Ltd is constructing in Madhyapur Thimi, saying it did not meet standard requirements.

The construction site spreads in 5,766 square metres along the Araniko Highway.

The CEO of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Kamal Gyawali, said the construction was stopped as the super market complex was being constructed breaching the building codes, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.

Gyawali claimed that the Municipality swung into action after the Bhatbhateni Hyper Market Pvt Ltd. ignored its repeated call to stop the construction.

Prashanta Jha, a manager with the Bhatbhateni, on the other hand, accused the Municipality of delaying the approval of building's design.

He claimed the construction was on a par with the government standards.
