Murder convict absconding for 29 yrs arrested
KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested a murder convict, who was absconding for last 29 years, from Bhadrabas of Kathmandu on Monday.
The arrestee has been identified as Bishu Bahadur Thapa (65) of Bhadrabas of the Capital.
On May 11, 1993, the Patan Appellate Court had sentenced him to jail for two years, two months and 12 days and a fine of Rs 550 in absentia on a murder charge.
Since Thapa was absconding since August 28, 1986 after the incident, the verdict was yet to be implemented.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu District Court sent Thapa to Jagannath Dewal Prison, located at Sundhara, for the execution of the sentence, police said.
