NA likely to reconstruct Rani Pokhari

Kathmandu, July 25

The government is likely to hand over the responsibility of reconstructing Rani Pokhari to the Nepali Army.

Rani Pokhari  was destroyed in the 2015 earthquakes. The government  has already started talks with the concerned ministries  and agencies regarding this.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister  Ishwor Pokharel, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation  Minister Rabindra Adhikari, director general at the Department of  Archaeology Bhesh Narayan Dahal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidya  Sundar Shakya had held a meeting to discuss reconstruction of  Ranipokhari.

Ram Bahadur Kuwar, DoA spokesperson, said they had yet  to decide who would rebuild Rani Pokhari.

A meeting of officials of National Reconstruction Authority and Department of Archaeology chaired by KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya on December 28 last year had formed the committee to prepare a report on the reconstruction model of Rani Pokhari.
