NAMS docs on warpath

Kathmandu, June 30:

Resident doctors and medical staffers of the National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) today met Deputy PM, Amik Sherchan, demanding to make NAMS a permanent

organisation.

They halted their regular work as part of a protest. The team returned after they were assured that the issue would be tabled in the upcoming session of the house. Since the parliament on May 7 declared all the decisions made by the past government void, the operation of NAMS has been put into question. NAMS has been running through the ordinances issued at different times for over three years now.

“The government should decide on this issue immediately as it is directly associated with the career of about 600 medical professionals,” said a doctor at NAMS.
