Nanda Bahadur Pun sworn in as Vice-President

KATHMANDU: Newly elected Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun took oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Pun amid a function at Sheetal Niwas with the presence of a large number of dignitaries and envoys.

The former commander of the People's Liberation Army, Pun was elected the second Vice-President of Federal Democratic Republic Nepal by defeating Nepali Congress leader Amiya Kumar Yadav on Saturday.

Of the total of 596 members of the Legislature Parliament, 547 lawmakers cast their votes.

Ten votes were declared invalid.

Of the 537 valid votes, Pun received 325 while Yadav accumulated 212 votes.
