Former royal palace remains a major heritage attraction for domestic and foreign tourists

More than 4.77 million domestic and international visitors have visited the Narayanhiti Palace Museum in the 17 years since it was converted into a museum following the abolition of the monarchy.
According to Purushottam Thapa, Information Officer at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Monument Management and Operation Development Committee, the figure was recorded as of mid-November.
The museum welcomed around 260,000 visitors in the fiscal year 2081/82, while 46,700 people visited between mid-July and mid-November of the current fiscal year.
The entry fee is Rs 50 for students, Rs 200 for Nepali citizens, Rs 500 for SAARC nationals, and Rs 1,000 for other foreign visitors.
The museum remains open every Saturday and on public holidays, continuing to attract visitors interested in Nepal's modern political history and royal heritage.
