NARC to computerise its library
Lalitpur, May 20:
The Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) is going to extend The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL), through the Local Area Network, on the premises of the NARC to facilitate researchers and officials.
TEEAL is a compact disk compilation of more than 150 full text journals, related to agriculture sector, published by different countries.
According to Bhola Man Singh Basnet, agronomist and principal scientist at NARC, CD is a library in a box and the NARC has subscribed the CD from the Cornell University at $1,000 per annum, a relatively lower price than previous year.
The usage of the TEEAL only in the LAN within the NARC will help maintain its copyright, he further said.
The NARC library, which holds the right to this CD, is facilitating Tribhuvan University as well as 25 other organisations by providing abstracts.
“This facility would not only disseminate the information to a greater number of people but also help execute works faster,” Basnet further said.
“We have already proposed the budget to the Ministry of Agriculture for the establishment of The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library,” Basnet said.
He added that 300 GB capacity hard disk is required to establish the software.
