Inclusiveness stressed
KATHMANDU: The inclusive participation and representation should address the under representation group of women, youth and other marginalised community, said experts. Rumbidzai Kandawasvika Nhundu, senior programme officer of International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) said that said that there should be gender balance in position of power and decision making. The participatory democracy should commit and contribute in the development of all parts of the population, regardless of gender, class, sex, age, and race, ethnic or religious background. Addressing a workshop organised by IDEA, Nhundu said that policy measures such as quotas setting should be for changing inequality in representation and end tokenism.
Stolen bike seized
KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) seized a stolen motorcycle from Lok Raj Regmi, who identified himself as a central member of Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party, in Nagdhunga, Kathmandu on Saturday. Regmi, hailing from Hariwan VDC of Sarlahi, was caught riding the Pulsar brand two-wheeler (Ba 33 Pa 1024) by replacing the genuine registration number plate with a fake one -- Ba 32 Pa 1355. DSP Bibhuti Raj Pandey, in-charge of Motorcycle Theft Control Section, MTPD, said that a special squad was dispatched from the MTPD as per a complaint lodged by the motorcycle owner Binaya Shrestha, who had lost the black-coloured motorbike from his house at Naikap on Friday. Regmi has been taken into custody at Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka.
BBA graduates feted
KATHMANDU: Minister for Education Ram Chandra Kushwaha felicitated BBA graduates of Thames International College amid a function on Sunday. Prabina Rajbhandari, director, TIC, in a press release said that the minister felicitated 120 students of various cohorts. The statement said, "Out of 39 students who appeared for the exams this year, 38 got distinction and a student secured first division." According to the statement, the minister also unveiled a book Tribhuvan University, BBA Question Book published by the
Management Club of TIC.
