NEB begins discussion on admission criteria

Kathmandu, April 7

National Education Board has started discussions with representatives of various universities regarding the criteria for admission in various streams.

NEB introduced letter grading system in Grade XI and XII from the last year which created confusion among universities and they were not able to set admission criteria for the courses offered by them.

According to chairman of NEB Chandra Mani Paudel, colleges have reported that they are having difficulty giving students admission due to lack clarity in their certificates that come with letter grading system.

“Until now, students who secured above 50 per cent marks were eligible to study science but colleges these days are having difficulties as letter grading system is new to many colleges and there are no set criteria for admission in various streams,” Paudel said.

Chairman of NEB Poudel said that the board had also asked all the 10 universities in the country to send their eligibility criteria and admission requirement for the courses they offer.
