NEB to conduct Grade X final examinations under existing structure
Kathmandu, December 25
The National Examination Board is preparing to conduct Grade X final examinations, scheduled to start from March 16 next year, under the existing structure as provincial bodies that are supposed to hold the exams have not been formed yet.
The Ministry of Education has directed the board to make preparations for holding Grade X final exams under the existing structure. The newly amended Education Act states that Grade X examinations will be conducted by provincial bodies .
Surya Parsad Gautam, member secretary of National Examination Board, said they were carrying out a survey to make an estimate of human resources and physical infrastructure required to set up offices of the board at the provincial level.
Gautam also informed that the preliminary study conducted by the board showed that each provincial office of the board needed a press, at least 50 staffers and other equipment.
“We could not implement the provision on holding Grade X examinations in the Education Act this year, as the board has not yet set up offices at the provincial level,” said Hari Lamsal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Education.
Lamsal said regional offices of the board would conduct Grade X examinations from next year.
