National Journalism Award to Shrestha

KATHMANDU: The government on Friday conferred the 'National Journalism Award-2072' on Kishor Shrestha, editor of Janasatha, a weekly newspaper.

At a programme organised in the capital, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari honoured Shrestha with the Award.

The president also honoured former presidents of the Federation of Nepali JournalistsĀ  Dr Suresh Acharya and Shiva GaunleĀ  and former FNJ general secretary, Om Sharma, with 'Senior Journalist Award-2072'.

Each award carries a purse of Rs 200,000. The award was presented on the occasion of the first National Journalism Day.

On the occasion, President Bhandari expressed that the honour to journalists should enrich the journalism sector.

She also stressed on effective coordination between government and journalism sector.
