MOE launches National Youth Volunteers Campaign

Youth Green Club has been formed as part of MoU between MoE and NYVC

Kathmandu, March 18

Ministry of Youth and Sports today launched National Youth Volunteers Campaign with the aim of mobilising youth in development activities.

Minister for Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal and Vice-chairperson of National Youth Council Madhab Dhungel today jointly launched the campaign amid a programme organised at Civil Service Hospital by planting a sapling on its premises.

As part of the campaign and a memorandum of understanding was signed between the MoYS, Civil Service Hospital and Youth Initiative. The hospital said it aims to provide quality service in a clean and healthy environment but there were challenges in maintaining the garden on its premises.

Youth Green Club has been formed as per the MoU. The club will be involved in activities such as cleaning the hospital premises and its surroundings and conducting other environment friendly works on regular basis.

The YGC, in a long run, is expected to contribute to cleaning public places and government offices.

Speaking at the programme, Minister Mandal stressed the need for good leadership in the country.

He said the youth should be able to take up leadership roles through social work. “The country lacks able leadership. Therefore, the youth should be able to develop themselves as leaders,” he said.

Dhungel also stressed the need for a nationwide campaign for greater mobilisation of youths.
