NC won’t ally with Maoists: Sushil

Kathmandu, July 29:

General secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala today said NC wouldn’t

compromise with extremist forces for the sake of peace and democracy in the country.

“There is no possibility of making alliance with Maoists,” he said, adding it was possible only if the Maoists put all their philosophical commitment into practice. “We have asked them to

create a conducive environment for making an alliance. It will be possible only after they put their political commitment into practice,” he said during the second convention of Maoist-Victims’ Association of Nepal (MVAN). Shekharidatta Chilwal, a Maoist victim and the father of Ganesh Chilwal who was shot dead by Maoists when he was president of MVAN, said the situation of Maoist victims remains the same. “This is because the political parties didn’t look back. We hope they will.” More than five years have elapsed since the formation of MVAN but the sufferers have got nothing from any party, not even sympathy, said Chilwal. NC cadre Chhayan Devi Parajuli lashed out at the political parties for ignoring the plight of Maoist victims. “The seven-party alliance should adress the issues of Maoist victims also,” she added.
