NCP (NCP) demands fair investigation into Nirmala Panta murder case

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has demanded the government to investigate the Kanchanpur murder case fairly and bring to book the culprit.

The emergency meeting of the NCP (NCP) secretariat held at Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar today urged the government to meticulously investigate the Kanchanpur incident and the attitude trying to foment social ills.

The meeting was held in the wake of growing tension over rape and subsequent murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant of Bhimdatta Municipality-2 in Kanchanpur district, Rastriya Sanachar Samiti reported.

Following the meeting, leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, said they decided for the initiative to prevent the activities that threaten public security. The meeting urged the government to initiate legal action against those involved in the crime and provide relief to the victim family.

The investigation needs to be comprehensive, credible and effective. The meeting also appealed to all sides concerned to be united against social ills and threat to security.

Meanwhile, NCP (NCP) leader Lekhraj Bhatta issued a press release, demanding an independent high-level probe team. Public trust on local administration and security should not be eroded, he added.
