KATHMANDU, MARCH 7

Leaders of Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) -- Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal -- today met with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota.

The splinter group had reached Speaker Sapkota's office at the Parliament Secretariat earlier today. Dahal-Nepal faction's meeting with HoR Speaker just hours before the commencement of reinstated HoR session today is being viewed with curiosity.

Dahal-Nepal group also visited the office of the Secretary of Parliament Secretariat this morning and submitted their written decision to remove Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from the position of Parliamentary Party leader of NCP. To this end, they submitted the signatures of 115 lawmakers who are reportedly on their side.

The faction has chosen Dahal as the leader of the Parliamentary Party.

The Lower House is meeting at 4:00 pm today in line with the Supreme Court's February 24 order to call the House session within 13 days. On March 1, President Bidya Devi Bhandari summoned the new session of the reinstated house for today on government's recommendation.
