Nembang urges protesters to move into Parliament from borderland
BHAKTAPUR: Former Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang has called leaders of the agitating Madhes-based parties to sort out problems of the country from the Parliament.
Addressing a greeting exchange programme organised by the CPN-UML Changu Narayan Town Committee here today on the occasion of Chhath festival, Nembang urged the agitating parties to seek solution from the Parliament as there was no meaning of launching agitations at the no man's land raising internal problems.
Stating that interference in the internal matters of Nepal by neighbouring countries was against the national and international laws, he said that India should not continue with the border blockade.
The former Speaker said, "It will be reliable to determine constituencies on the basis of geographical territory and population. The new Constitution has the same provision."
He further argued it would not be inclusive and suitable to declare constituencies only on the basis of population.
He also urged to find out solution to the demands of disgruntled sides as there is a provision of amendment on the basis of political consensus if anybody has dissatisfaction over the new Constitution issued in the presence 99 per cent lawmakers and support of 85 per cent lawmakers.
Similarly, UML politburo member Sanu Kumar Shrestha, parliamentarian Kedar Sanjel, UML District Chairman Rajendra Rajthala, among others, expressed their views.
