KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Election Commission (EC), has informed diplomatic missions of various countries as well as chiefs and representatives of United Nations agencies based in Kathmandu about the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5.
Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions were briefed on ongoing election preparations, the prevailing electoral environment, and the monitoring of the HoR elections by national and international observers, EC officials said on Sunday.
At a news conference on Sunday, the EC stated that the printing of ballot papers under the proportional representation electoral system has been completed, while ballot paper printing under the direct electoral system has been completed in 25 districts so far.
EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the commission has prioritized identifying harmful information circulating across various media platforms and recommending appropriate action against those involved.
Furthermore, the EC has held discussions with the business community regarding the role and responsibilities of the private sector in the upcoming HoR elections.
The commission met with chiefs and representatives of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), the Hotel Association of Nepal, the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal, and other related institutions.
