Chinese officials meet Defence Minister

KATHMANDU: A 13-member Chinese delegation, led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff Department Admiral Sun Jianguo, held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Bhim Rawal on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Defence Ministry today, Minister Rawal thanked China for its support to the Nepal's new constitution.

On the occasion, the Defence Minister reiterated that Nepal sticks to the one-China policy.

Thanking the Government of China for its help and support after the devastating earthquakes last year, Rawal praised the role played by the Chinese People's Liberation Army at that time.

During the meeting, Admiral Sun Jianguo said that Nepal always stood as a good friend of China and termed Nepal-China relations 'historic'.

Admiral Sun Jianguo further said Nepal could benefit from the expansion of road, transportation and railway under the China's 'One Belt, One Road' policy.

Saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping might visit Nepal in near furture, Admiral Sun Jianguo also extend an invitation to Minister Rawal for China visit.
