Nepal-China joint military drill from Sunday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army and the People's Liberation Army of China are holding a joint military drill for the first time in Kathmandu from April 16 to 25.

The 10-day military drill with the PLA is the first of its kind in course of holding the joint military drill with the armies of friendly nations, according to the Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations.

Dubbed 'Sagarmatha Frienship-'17', the joint exercise is being organised between the armies of the two neighbouring countries considering possible security challenges triggered by terrorism, the Nepali Army said.

The NA has been organising bilateral and multi-lateral training programmes, seminars and drills in course of expanding its military relations based on Nepal's foreign and security police.

Matters of common interest and concerns including disaster management would also be discussed during the training.

Military and diplomatic relations are expected to get expanded and further strengthened besides increasing military knowledge and professional ability through the drill, the NA added
