Nepal, EU Joint Commission meeting to be held today

Kathmandu, November 7

The 11th meeting of the Joint Commission between Nepal and the European Union is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on November 8.

Foreign Secretary of Nepal Shanker Das Bairagi and Deputy Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Service of the EU, Paola Pampaloni will lead their respective delegations to the meeting.

The two sides will take stock of overall aspects of the bilateral relations between Nepal and the European Union including cooperation in the regional and multilateral issues of mutual interests, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to this, the delegation on Thursday met separately with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Foreign Affairs Advisor, Rajan Bhattarai. The delegation is scheduled to call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on November 8.

The delegation held talks separately with Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit and Minister of  Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada yesterday.

The third meeting of the Sub-commission on Development Cooperation between Nepal and the European Union was held today. The meeting exchanged views on the whole spectrum of the ongoing development cooperation between Nepal and the EU.

The meeting also discussed the future course of action for enhanced level of partnership and increasing effectiveness of development cooperation.
