Nepal ISTU meet kicks off

KATHMANDU: The second national assembly of Nepal Institutional School Teachers' Union (Nepal ISTU) kicked off here today.

Teachers from around 300 private schools across the country had gathered at Shantivatika before marching to Kalikasthan in Dillibazar, prior to the inauguration of the three-day meet.

Speaking at the inauguration function, Hom Kumar Thapa, president, Nepal ISTU, reiterated the need to amend the education law and regulations.

"The state is being restructured after the declaration of the republic but no political party has prioritised education and amended laws to systematise education," he said. "Though the parties frequently discuss the issue, none is sensitive enough to solve the problems prevailing in the sector."
