Nepal Police brings in use Digital Forensics Technology

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police has brought a Digital Forensics Technology in use in Kathmandu, on Thursday.

On the occasion of the 60th Crime Investigation Day, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal inaugurated the technology amid a programme held at the Police Headquarters at Naxal.

IGP Aryal said that the technology is installed in an attempt to modernise and well-equip the Nepal Police.

According to IGP Aryal, this state-of-the-art-technology will help Police combat crimes through the scientific, evidence-based investigation as many as 90 per cent of criminal activities at present occur with the use of some form of information technology.

Also, speaking at the programme, Chakra Bahadur Buda, Joint-Secretary of the Minister of Home Affairs said that it was imperative to well-equip police with latest technology in order to help them solve the criminal cases at the earliest.

On the occasion, various police personnel were also awarded for their outstanding performances.
