NSU convention possible due to support from all, says Lamichhane

UP Lamichhane, former spokesperson of Nepal Students’ Union, sister wing of Nepali Congress expressed gratitude to all concerned, including journos, for the successful conclusion of its 11th national general convention last week.
Talking to THT, he said that despite hurdles and challenges, NSU successfully held its 11th national general convention after nine years.
He said, “After the unification between the two NCs establishment faction and another faction-led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, the mother party have already held two conventions, but its sister wing was not able to conduct its convention due to dispute over convention representatives for such a long time,” adding, “Successful completion of the NSU convention was possible due to immense hard work of party leadersn former NSU president Ranjit Karna, convention representatives and mediapersons.”
The convention was held from August 7 to 18, which elected Nainsingh Mahar as its president for two years.
The 11th national general convention also formed a 151-member new central committee with 129 elected members and 22 nominated members. He also talked about his bitter experience of not being able to conduct the Free Students’ Union poll.
New CC meeting to be held on August 25
KATHMANDU: The first meeting of the Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Students’ Union’s central committee after its 11th national general convention will be held on August 25.
According to Sushil Bhatta, central committee member, NSU, the election committee will hand over certificates to newly elected members on the same day.
He said, “Soon after receiving the certificates, the meeting will commence.” They will discuss the FSU poll, discount for students and other issues.
The former NSU central committee will felicitate the newly elected committee in the presence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ramchandra Paudel.
