Nepal Tamang Ghedung meet begins
Kathmandu, April 7:
Speaker of the Legislature Parliament Subash Nembang today inaugurated the sixth national conference of Nepal Tamang Ghedung.
Addressing the conference, Speaker Nembang said the Constituent Assembly would institutionalise achievements of the Jana Andolan II.
He said speeches and commitments alone won’t fulfil the aspirations of the Tamang people.
“It’s the people who would decide the fate of the nation as the sole sovereignty of the nation lies in the people,” he said.
Leftist leader Sitaram Tamang said the interim government could not include any representative from the Tamang community that makes seven per cent of the total population.
Nine Tamang members of the interim parliament including Bhim Bahadur Tamang, Suryaman Tam-ang and Harkaman Tamang had expressed their views during the conference that begun with the theme “Campaign for the Tamsaling Autonomous Republic”.
Earlier, participants of the conference marched through the city thoroughfares in a rally.
The rally that begun from Bhrikuti Mandap went through Shahid Gate, Ratna Park, Bagbazar, Putalisadak and had converged at the Balmeeki Bidhyapeeth for the inaugural function.
Some 400 participants representing 23 different Tamang organisations would take part in the closed session of the conference tomorrow.
