Nepali Congress amends statute of its Parliamentary Party

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress amended its Parliamentary Party (PP) statute on Monday.

A meeting of the Nepali Congress PP, chaired by senior-most member KB Gurung, endorsed a proposal to amend the statute today. The party's chief whip, Chinkaji Shrestha, had tabled the proposal. The meeting was held at the Parliament building.

The proposal included amendments on a par with Nepal's Constitution, considering the principles of proportional representation and the number of provinces.

Meanwhile, the PP is scheduled to elect its new leader on Wednesday. The party president, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel are on the fray for the PP leadership.
