Nepali Congress CWC decides to file candidacy for President, Vice-President

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has formally decided to pitch its candidates for the post of President and Vice-President. The Parliament meeting, scheduled for today, will begin the process to hold elections to the vital posts.

Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel told RSS that today's meeting of the party's Central Working Committee, held at the residence of the party President Sushil Koirala at Maharajgunj, decided to file the candidacy for the posts after holding serious discussions with other political parties representing in the Parliament.

He added that the party would come with all preparations aiming to win the election. The Central working Committee meeting to be held this afternoon would take the decision in this regard, it is learnt.

Talking to RSS, CWC member Arjun Narshing KC said the party is in favour of electing the President and Vice-President through consensus among parties as the Nepali Congress had stressed on consensus during the elections of Speaker and Deputy Speaker also.
