Nepali Congress CWC meet put off

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has put off the meeting of its Central Working Committee, scheduled for Thursday morning, for three days.

In a statement, the party's central office said the CWC will meet at 8:30 am on Sunday, March 26.

Reasons for the postponement have not been specified.

Former Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel and General Secretary Shashank Koirala had exerted pressure on the party president, Sher Bahadur Deuba, to call the meeting.

Expressing  discontent over Deuba's unilateral decision makings, they had demanded that vexing issues related to the contemporary politics be discussed at the CWC in order to prepare the party's official opinion.

The largest party in the Parliament and a major ally in the ruling coalition, the Nepali Congress, however, has not held its CWC meeting since October.

Even after a year of his election as the party's chief, Deuba has not given full shape to the party's CWC and departments.
