Nepali Congress deploys local election teams

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has deployed election officers in all 75 districts to hold elections of party's local committees in run-up to its 13th national general convention.

The largest party in the Parliament is holding its 13th national general convention on March 3-6 in the Capital.

An NC Central Election Committee meeting held on Friday gave the final touch to the list of election officers to be deployed in all 75 districts for the same purpose. The NC central office said that the assigned election officers would go to their designated districts soon and would start preparations for the elections.

The central office said that preparations were underway to dispatch all necessary equipment to the specified areas.

Secretary at the central office Prakash Sharma said that people from all walks of life including teachers, professors, journalists and advocates would be deployed for the elections.

He added that it requires at least 9,000 election officers in the total 3,090 election centres.

Elections to the convention at constituency level are scheduled to take place on February 5, while elections at district level will be held on February 8.
