'NC faced defeat in Kathmandu due to non-cooperation from within the party'

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has said that the party faced defeat in the mayoral election in Kathmandu due to lack of cooperation within the party itself.

Addressing a programme organised to thank the voters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City today, he said it was unfortunate and regrettable that there was betrayal from within the party despite huge public support.

"The time has come to look into the causes of the defeat in the election," leader Singh said adding, it is time all the NC leaders and cadres think why the NC, which had won in eight election constituencies in Kathmandu in the second Constituent Assembly election, lost the civic polls now.

He also underscored the need for the Nepali Congress to accommodate all the parties in the implementation of the Constitution.

Similarly, NC central committee member Nabindra Raj Joshi said, "When the deputy mayor candidate of the party has won, why the mayoral candidate lost with huge vote margin? This needs to be thoroughly looked into," he added.

Meanwhile, the mayoral candidate Raju Raj Joshi thanked all the voters who supported and voted for him in the local level elections on May 14.
