Nepali Congress obstructs House meeting

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) obstructed the Parliament meeting on Thursday.

The largest political force in the legislative body had decided to obstruct the House proceedings protesting the government's inefficiency and failure to address the concerns of the earthquake victims.

Speaking at the meeting, NC leader Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the government had failed to distribute relief to the earthquake victims and expedite reconstruction works.

Mahat further said that his party would not let the House proceed with its business unless the government addressed the concerns of the quake victims.

Following the obstruction, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar postponed the meeting until 11 am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a Parliamentary Party Working Committee meeting of the party decided to continue the House obstruction unless the government provided it a convincing answer, the party's Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
