‘NC ready to amend statute thru consensus’

Nepali Congress senior leader Ramchandra Paudel today said all parties should demonstrate flexibility to settle disputed issues in the new constitution .
At an interaction with experts on the issue of Tarai-Madhes problems in Kathmandu, Paudel said the NC should take leadership to resolve issues of delineating provinces, citizenship and other concerns raised by Madhes-based parties.
Stating that all three levels of elections should be held within January 20, 2017, he said, “We should focus on finding out a solution as we all know what would happen if the new constitution is not implemented.”
Leader Paudel also stressed on launching a national campaign for the prosperity of Tarai-Madhes.
On the occasion, former minister Bidyadhar Mallik said solution to problems like delineation of provinces and inclusion should be sought on the basis of consensus.
Similarly, senior lawyer Ram Krishna Nirala and lawyers Bijay Singh and Devendra Jha expressed the view that the NC should take the leadership to resolve the Tarai-Madhes problem as per the demand of the people of Tarai-Madhes.
Likewise, writer CK Lal, central committee member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sheetal Prasad Mahato, Dr Anjani Kumar Jha and Thakur Raman Acharya, among others urged the parties to resolve the problems at the earliest.
