Nepali Congress pays tributes to Sushil Koirala on death anniv
KATHMANDU: Tributes were paid to former Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, who had a significant role in promulgating the Constitution from the Constituent Assembly, amidst a programme organised today at the NC central office, Sanepa.
At the programme organised to mark the first death anniversary of Koirala, party senior leaders, remembering him as a true political leader, insisted that it would be a tribute to him in a real sense if the Constitution was enforced in an effective way and three-tier elections would take place within the stipulated date.
Koirala had passed away on February 9 last year at the age of 76 years.
Speaking at the function today, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba said Nepal got the Constitution due to a strong determination and tremendous efforts of Koirala.
Effective implementation of the country's main law, therefore, was the prime need as well as the current challenge of the nation, he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, party's Senior Leader Ram Chandra Paudel said leader Koirala as an epitome of dedication, honesty and good conducts was an inspiration to all.
Party General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, Treasurer and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Sitadevi Yadav and other senior leaders including Prakash Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Gopal Man Shrestha highlighted the 'incomparable' contribution of the late leader to the strengthening of party and his sacrifice for the welfare of the nation and people.
