Nepali doctors to help Haiti victims
KATHMANDU: Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) today said that a team
of doctors from Nepal are going to earthquake-torn Haiti on January 24 to help recuperate the victims maimed by the deadly earthquake that struck a few days ago.
Issuing a press statement here today, AMDA said that a team of two doctors led by Rishikesh Narayan Shrestha, senior general surgeon and the president of AMDA, will go to Haiti to help the quake victims.
AMDA said one doctor is already working in Haiti.
According to the statement, the new team would be working in co-operation with St. Nicolas Hospital to serve the patients admitted there.
Dr Shamendra Singh, senior anesthesiologist, is another member of the team, who will accompany Shrestha.
The statement added that AMDA team would also paying a visit to member countries,
including Japan,
Canada, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia.
