NERF to shut schools for 3 days

KATHMANDU: Nepal Educational Republic Forum today announced a fresh protest programme, which includes three-day school closure beginning from July 29.

The NERF has been protesting for months demanding the implementation of the agreement signed between the government and the NERF on 29 March 2007 and the recommendation made by the High Level Education Commission.

A press statement issued here by the NERF on Sunday said they would shut all the schools up to higher secondary level across the country for three days from July 29.

The protesters are also scheduled to gather at Ratnapark and organise a protest rally on that very same day.

The statement added that on July 30 and 31, the teachers would gherao the Ministry of Education.The teachers will evaluate their protest programmes in the past and announce fresh protest on July 31.Ten teachers’ unions, namely All Nepal Teachers’ Organisation, Temporary Teachers’ Protest Central Committee, Janatantrik Teachers’ Organisation, Nepal Progressive Teachers’ Organisation, Nepal School Employees’ Council, Nepal Institutional School Teachers’ Union, Madhesi Teachers’

Forum, Loktantrik Teachers’ Union, Community School Relief Teachers’ Struggle Committee and Community School Private Source Teachers Struggle Committee are associated with the NERF.
