New Act to ensure rights of women and children
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, CP Mainali said the government was working out to bring a new Act to ensure rights of women and children.
He informed that the government was preparing to table a bill for the same at the Parliament.
Addressing a programme jointly organised by the Central Child Welfare Board and Nepal Police here today, DPM Mainali added that cooperation was essential to end all kinds of discrimination against children and women.
Participants of the programme argued that women and children were facing different kinds of discrimination in the society and such discrimination should be ended with the cooperation of all.
On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare Madhu Prasad Regmi shared that the government had also prepared a national strategy against early child marriage.
Similarly, Central Child Welfare Board Chairman Dilliram Giri claimed that the all kinds of discrimination against the woman and children could be lessened if our thinking was changed.
On the occasion, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Bigyan Raj Sharma urged that parents not to create fear showing the police adding that they should be taught that police are the friends of them.
