New stamp to commemorate International Women’s Day

Kathmandu, March 8:

A commemorative stamp has been issued by the Department of Postal Service on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

The stamp is marked with a print of the face of Queen Komal, a symbol of International Women’s day and activities of women in the background.

Four colours are prominent in the stamp that costs Rs 5. About ten lakh copies of the stamp have been issued. The stamp was designed by art officer of the design section of the Department, Mohan Narasingh Rana.

At the function organised by the Department, Chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee, Parsunarayan Chaudhari, affixed a cancellation mark on the stamp on the first day of its issue.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhari noted that the stamp issued on the occasion of special international occasion will be of significance and expressed his best wishes for the Queen’s long life and happiness.

Director General of the Department, Shreedhar Gautam, presented technical details of the stamp and said the stamp would help disseminate information on International Women’s Day and personality of Queen Komal all over the world.Other speakers also expressed their views.
