Next hearing on Karki appointment debate on January 5
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Friday scheduled the next hearing on a case filed against the appointment of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki for January 5.
Advocates Bal Krishna Neupane and Madhav Basnet as well as Joint Attorney General Kiran Paudel had presented their statements from the CIAA Chief's side today.
A full bench of Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha had started the hearing against Karki’s appointment from Thursday.
Similarly, former Law Secretary Pramod Karki had also been accused of obstructing a Supreme Court employee from pasting the Court’s summon at the residence of suspended CIAA Chief Lok Man Singh Karki.
Meanwhile, the full bench has given CIAA Chief and former Law Secretary Pramod Karki, accused of obstructing the Supreme Court from serving a summons notice on the CIAA Chief, the right to hire attorneys for their cases.
It means that the attorneys could represent the duo in the next hearing.
Lok Man Singh Karki’s advocates had submitted an application requesting to hire attorneys after some Maoist cadres manhandled him on the Supreme Court premises on Thursday.
Advocate Om Prakash Aryal had filed the writ against Karki stating that the appointment was against the Constitution.
