NHRC Chair pledges to protect consumers' rights
LALITPUR: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Anup Raj Sharma pledged to always remain effortful for protection of consumers' rights.
Taking part in an interaction programme on monitoring of consumers' human rights, achievements and challenges here Wednesday, NHRC Chair Sharma said consumers should also be aware of their rights.
Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development Somlal Subedi stressed that quality service to consumers is the need of the hour and urged all holding positions of service delivery to always realise this reality and work accordingly.
Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Jay Mukunda Khanal, demanded legal and policy reforms to guarantee quality services to the people.
The participants of the programme sought commitments from the state towards guarantee of consumers' rights. Efforts made from the government levels for the protection of consumers rights are just for formality, they complained.
