KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission on Thursday deployed five investigation teams to various districts of Tarai to probe into incidents of deaths during the ongoing Madhes agitation.

Issuing a press statement, NHRC Spokesperson Mohna Ansari said the teams, which include high officials, have been sent to Bara, Parsa, Morang, Sunsari, Rupandehi, Mahottari and Saptari, among other districts.

The commission said at least 49 persons were killed during the protests in Tarai region in the past four months.

It has urged all concerned to cooperate with the investigators.
