Protest if Govinda KC's demands not met by Sunday: NMA

KATHMANDU: The umbrella organisation of Nepali medical and dental doctors, Nepal Medical Association, on Saturday warned that it would launch a stern protest if the government did not address genuine demands of Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging a fast-unto-death for past 14 days.

Issuing a press statement today, the NMA said the government would be held responsible for any untoward consequence the nationwide protest would render.

The organisation said the NMA Executive Committee, directors of Kathmandu Valley-based hospitals, senior NMA members and representatives of the National Resident Doctors Association, Resident Association of NAMS, Junior Residents Society, National Doctors Association, Nepal Medical Students Society, Doctors Society of Nepal, Solidarity of Medical Fraternity and Solidarity for Dr KC Alliance among others held a joint meeting and made a decision to this effect today.
