NMC suspends 17 doctors with fake certificates

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) suspended 17 doctors who were earlier arrested on charge of using fake certificates to obtain the doctor’s licences.

A public statement made public by the NMC on Wednesday stated that the Operation Quack, a joint investigation conducted by NMC, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB), has found that all the 17 doctors had obtained fake academic certificates at different levels from different institutions.

The CIB already filed cases against them at the court.

The NMC said that the doctors with the permanent and temporary licences have been suspended till the court reaches a conclusion.

The statement further said that the persons, who are awaiting licences, cannot appear in the licence exams to be held by the NMC, till the court reaches the conclusion.
