No more tyre pyres on Ghantaghar road

Kathmandu, July 18:

Student leaders of Tri-Chandra College have decided not to torch tyres and vandalise vehicles during protests.

They expressed their commitment during a function jointly organised by Clean Energy Nepal, Clean Air Network Nepal, Environment Department of the College and the Youth for Conservation Students Club at the college premises on Monday.

Those who signed the commitment include vice-president of the Free Students Union of the College Binaya Ram Bhatta, Purushottam Kadariya of the All Nepal National Free Students Union, Pitambar Bhandari of the Nepal Students Union and Tekendra Joshi of All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary.

The function was organised to create awareness among the college students, student leaders and the college administration about the ill-effects of air pollution, burning tyres in particular.

Student leaders expressed grave concern about the burning of tyres as a means of protest. They unanimously declared Tri-Chandra College and its surrounding areas free of tyre pyres.
