NPTA warns of hunger strike
KATHMANDU: Nepal Part-time Teachers' Association has issued an ultimatum to Tribhuvan University and the government to fulfill their demands by Monday, threatening to launch a fast-onto-death in the failure.
"We are compelled to take a harsh step since our demands have been neglected," NPTA said in a statement today.
Their demands include permanent posts for the part-time teachers and a clear provision to regulate their recruitment in the future. NPTA also criticised the university and the government for failing to implement the two-point agreement made with them four years ago.
It was then agreed that 900 posts would be created to contract the service of the part-time teachers who have rendered their service for a minimum of one year.
