NPTFs second phase starts
KATHMANDU: With the start of the second 3-year term of the Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF), a Joint Government-Donor Review Mission -- comprising senior professionals -- has critically reviewed the performance and impacts of the NPTF.
NPTF had started its second 3-year term on 17 January, 2010, mandated to implement the agreements of the Comprehensive Peace Accord.
"Based on the review recommendations, the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction and Donor Advisory Group are presently discussing the strategic direction of the NPTF for the coming three years as well as further improvements to the functioning and management of the fund," stated a press release issued by Peace Fund Secretariat (PFS) in the capital today.
In a bid to join in the NPTF supporting donors, Germany has recently signed an agreement in support of the NPTF.
The European Commission is in its final stage of providing 22 million Euro to the NPTF.
"Other donors are considering joining the NPTF in order to meet the funding requirements of the peace process during the coming three years," read the release.
