NSEC demands change in biased laws
Kathmandu, January 8:
Nepal School Employee’s Council (NSEC) today demanded a change in the discriminatory laws against low-grade employees like peons, watchmen and sweepers of public schools. It demanded that their wages and facilities should be equal to those of civil service employees.
The council said low-level employees were being paid wages ranging from Rs 300 to 4,600, which shows inequality in wages even at the same level of workers working at different schools. They said the word “except” used in part F and G in clause 2 in the Education Act 1971 should be removed and the definition of employees should be the same.
